Mendon, Massachusetts

Mendon is a small town in Worcester County with a population of approximately 5,839 (according to the 2010 census). Mendon is part of the Blackstone River Valley National Heritage Corridor, an early center of the industrial revolution in the United States. Mendon serves primarily as a residential community for commuters, but has seen some significant commercial development along Route 16 in recent years.

  • Lake Nipmuc Park was a popular resort in the early 20th century, often hosting leading musical talent. You can find vintage postcards from this resort frequently for sale on eBay!
  • The legendary band Aerosmith played their first gig at Nipmuc Regional High School (now Miscoe Hill Middle School) in November 1970
  • Mendon is home to Southwick's Zoo, which is currently Massachusetts' largest zoo.
  • The Mendon Twin Drive-In has been showing movies since 1954. It can accommodate 800 cars for its dual-screen movie showings!
