Did you know…

•    Holliston, originally part of Sherborn, was first settled by Europeans in 1659 by Massachusetts Bay Puritans. The town of Holliston was incorporated on December 3, 1724.
•    The town’s name was taken in honor of Thomas Hollis of London, a benefactor of Harvard College.
•    Back when Holliston was founded, members of the small community set aside £10 per year for public education. Now, the community of over 14,000 has an annual budget of over $40 million, including more than $23 million for a nationally recognized school system.
•    Holliston’s somewhat iconic “Balancing Rock” off Route 16 features a 20x10x6 ft boulder balanced perfectly atop a piece of natural granite. Legend has it that General George Washington’s troops tried their luck at displacing the rock during their trek from Boston to New York. No one was successful with this quest, and the rock remains perfectly balanced to this day!

The Tri-County Regional Chamber has been supporting the
businesses in the town of Holliston since 1922.
